The Full-Day Trap

I spend at least an hour every Friday just figuring out what my week actually was.

By the end of the week, the context switching adds up. I reconcile the progress my team, my partners and I have made between meetings, and sometimes I run out of gas to even understand what I have to focus on the next day.

With the usage of AI productivity tools across the industry, the drift between understanding where I’m at and where my team’s at has grown just by the pace of progress AI can help deliver. That’s the irony — the tools meant to help you move faster are making it harder to know where you are. Because the problem isn’t delivering anymore. It’s keeping pace now.

My work isn’t invisible, but it’s distributed across so many moments that are moving so fast, that reconciling them to get clarity for the next day feels like a monumental effort. One can argue — “why not ask AI to synthesize it for you?” (I hope you see the irony — and if you’ve ever hit “context limit” mid-conversation with an AI, you know it has the same problem.)

This is not a time management problem. It’s a context problem.
